I called on July 9 and was told that the food prep was not open. The store is open.
If you forgot anything while packing for your camping trip, they should have all the basics covered, and then some. Plates, utensils, food, beer/wine, various jackets/raincoats, pizza and breakfast served, firewood, camping supplies, toiletries, etc...It ain't cheap, but then again they're the only game in town.
Fun store and very helpful.
If they don't have it, you probably don't need it. This is a great stop for anything you may need. My wife had a turkey sandwich and I had the BLT. The turkey was fresh cut (chunky) and not the thin processed stuff. My BLT had plenty of bacon. We both enjoyed the meal and didn't think the prices were too high given the location. All in all, this place is necessary and the owners have done a great job to try and anticipate your needs.
Current owners have owned the place for 5 years and are constantly there. The snack shack provides a cheaper option to the lodge and better wifi!
Third season here I love this lol place it is a great escape lots to do and friendly people
Really good food and priced better than the hotel across the street. Lots of tables and chairs inside to eat at. Good selection of groceries if camping and some souvenirs if just passing through.
Stopped in for breakfast on our final morning visiting Lake Quinault. If the Salmon House surprised us the night before, this place blew us away for breakfast on this morning. It was very reasonable and the employees who worked behind the counter were friendly and a hoot. Do not expect to have your food come up quickly. It is prepared with love and a desire to please the taste buds. I am not sure what batter they used, but the pancakes were the bomb. The were big and fluffy with a hint of something delicious (not sure if was cinnamon or vanilla). We had french toast and an eggs scramble that were both awesome. It was a breakfast that hit the spot and left us even a little full. Worth the stop and the wait.
We stopped here for a quick breakfast. We were not expecting much it's kind of a hole in the wall little Mercantile store. The sign at the register said we can't promise fast but we can promise good. They lived up to that sign the food was absolutely amazing. We cannot stop telling people about it.
Good store for campers and those who pass through. Food available.
The staff is barebones but try their hardest to please. Excellent place to plug your laptop in and chill a rainy rainforest day away.
Great little store with lots of camping accessories. Good choice and best bacon/sausage breakfast muffin we've had!!
"Mercantile" is a very apt description. It has a little bit of everything one might need for a weekend at the lake, whether cabin or camping. The cafe serves pretty good food, and prices are on par with about everything else in the area - meaning two people can't eat lunch for less than $20. They do have gluten-free options, if you're into that sort of thing.Thy also have WiFi, for which they don't glare at you if you take too long with your latte. And, they're open pretty late, so you can upload your photos to Instagram after a day's hike. For the mercantile, 4/5 stars for having a decent selection of stuff, and not feeling price-gouge-yFor the cafe, also 4/5 stars for menu, food quality and hours. Far better on all three counts over the so-called "internet cafe" in Amanda Park..
We ate eat while staying at the Rain Forest Resort Village. Good value for money. Decent breakfast options and the portions were good. friendly staff.
Too jumbled, crowded and disorganized
Expenseve but convenient
Only people here, been waiting 45 mins for a cold sub and no updates.Edit- Of the 30 years I have spent being alive on this planet, I have never had a worse sandwich than the one I received at the mercantile. It was underwhelming, small, and lacked condiments. Being an Italian sub, it is a disgrace to all Italians. I reccomend a dirt sandwich, because you can get your money's worth, and it'll be done within the decade.
Stock up here on your outdoor adventure needs. They have a small cafe inside. The grilled cheese sandwich was tasty.
Very slow service around lunch. Tasty food, but we waited 15 minutes standing at the register watching the two ladies make sandwiches and pizza for other customers. Took a reasonable amount of time to get the food after ordering.
Overpriced. Waited way too long (45 minutes +). Disappointing costco burgers, frozen fries. Just blah. The portions were not great for the big pricetag. Pizza was worse than school cafeteria pizza.
Good food
I stop for the cooked food Everytime I go to Quinault. Yes, it takes a while to get your food, but it's worth the wait since everything is made to order with good ingredients and generous portion sizes. If you want fast, find another place, if you want good, this is it!
Closed during visit - open peak season hours only. A good resource to have next to lodge and trails. Bus stops here and mail box too.
Very quaint and neat
Curly fries, and a juicy burger is just what you need after a hike around the trails. Place is small but everyone is very friendly.
If you are in a pinch then this place could be a life saver as it has some decent bare essentials you might be in desperate need. The staff is friendly and courteous and there is not much else around.
Awesome food and coffee. I swear their pizza is bigger than they say. Kinda spendy.
What an amazing gem. Businesses like this just don't exist anymore. The look, feel and smell of this place is so packed with nostalgia and good vibes it's incredible. The Merc is a Oasis of genuine people, gear and food. The environment is such that can not be recreated by a corporate chain. What a treat.
Everything you need for an adventure in a national forest. Good hamburgers and even ice cream!
Good food but they are completely overchallenged as soon as there are more than 4 people ordering food at the same time.
A good alternative to the restaurant at the lodge.
Best place for wifi, burgers and beer both before and after your hike.
Very nice people, but the politeness and laid back nature of the place has lead to a very very slow and disorganized service. The menu has a long list of options that all sound amazing but it is definitely far too large. While I was there, I saw about 5 families come and order, and all that was ordered were sandwiches and burgers. A couple of people were smart and called ahead for a pizza. I went in and ordered a pizza at around 6:30 just before the dinner rush of orders, and did not leave until 7:30 and it only took about 10 minutes for my pizza to cook. I know this because I watched them put it in the oven and I watched them take it out. And I’m not blaming the workers, I think that they need one more person to help them out. The food was decent but the service was shameful and slow. If this is your only option while here then call and order ahead but don’t expect it to be ready when you get there.
Good milkshake and hot dog, but we waited 30 minutes with only a few people in front of us.
Amazing hash browns 👍 Chillaxed environment, trading post style in the beautiful Olympic National forest.
Friendly staff that were accommodating of a group of college-age campers from a nearby campsite, and while it clearly a fairly old building, it has been taken care of and is a nice place to get amenities when there's no internet or pool to be had (the lake's pretty cold!). The pool table isn't remotely flat though, but that's probably just a knock against whoever put it there, rather than the venue itself.
Great place to stop on the way to ànd from the beaches or if you're staying at the lake. This store has most all of your camping or picnicking needs at a reasonable price. Staff has always been well knowledgeable and pleasant.
Thought this place was gonna be better and have souvenirs. Just good for grabbing a few snacks and maybe something hot to eat.
This place rocks!!! Overlook the prices (they gotta stay alive) cause the food is Excellent. Eat in or choose the picnic tables across the road and make sure to have one of their shakes. Great Peeps Too!
more like a general store and it has hot food you can order
Kitchen was understaffed and overworked, however still put out great tasting food and coffee drinks. Pro tip: call ahead to order, to reduce wait time. There was a line on both visits we made. It took some time to fill the orders. Worth the wait!
Had that old school General Store feel, and friendly helpful service. Nice selection for a small store.
Only 2 store for Miless around.
The only thing this place has going for them is the good food. Service was tremendously slow & the staff weren’t friendly at all. If they shrunk the menu & got a couple more employees it would run much smoother.
Very slow service.
So thankful this store is here!! Otherwise, i would've had to drive 15 minutes away for a bag of rice, because i dropped my phone in the water at la push beach lol
Great shake I was happy my offerings were limited to chocolate or had the strawberry shake great value considering the area.
Functional small market with free coffee and tea for rental guest. Staff is very helpful!
The cafe is closed for the summer due to COVID but still convenient for beverages, snacks, and supplies
Great food, amazing staff and lovely place to have a meal with someone. A little bit of Quinault history nearby and the lake right across the street.
Great customer service
